Product Overview

Description

  • Dietary Supplement
  • NSF - Certified by Sport

The keystone of every nutritional product line is a multi-vitamin/mineral supplement. A multi-vitamin/mineral product is the starting point for every individual's supplementation needs and therefore it should contain all of the essential nutrients.

Because of the state of the current food supply and because very few individuals eat the recommended five daily servings of fruits and vegetables, nutrition experts agree that a multi-vitamin/mineral supplement should be taken daily. Even the Journal of the American Medical Association – not usually known as a supporter of nutritional supplements – suggests that everyone should take a multi-vitamin/mineral supplement (JAMA 2002;287:3127-3129). A good multi-vitamin/mineral nutritional supplement could be considered "dietary insurance" to be certain all of the essential nutrients are being consumed on a daily basis. Even greater health benefits can be realized when a healthy diet is being eaten in addition to taking a multi-vitamin/mineral supplement.

A joint statement issued by the American College of Sports Medicine, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and the Dietitians of Canada is particularly noteworthy for individuals involved in athletic activities: “Supplements may be required by athletes who restrict energy intakes, use severe weight loss practices, eliminate one or more food groups from their diet, or consume high-carbohydrate diets with low micronutrient density.”

Basic Nutrients 2/Day provides a comprehensive multi-vitamin/mineral complex. Its key nutritional features include 2,000 IU of vitamin D3 and 400 mcg of vitamin K (in K1 and K2 forms) per serving, in addition to having mixed tocopherols, bioactive B-vitamins, and amino acid-chelated minerals, including calcium and magnesium – all in a two-capsule-per-day delivery system. Basic Nutrients 2/Day makes it easy for individuals to obtain foundational nutritional support.

Basic Nutrients 2/Day is NSF Certified for Sport.

Best all rounder with the best formulations

Posted by Andrew on Feb 14, 2018 | Verified Purchase

I researched all the general once a day cover all supplements here. This is it. Best all rounder no frills Multi-Vit-Minerals with quality formulations. Traacs is best for me (after liposomal, but no all-in-one liposomal product I think). B12 supplied is very high for a healthy person. Blood work shows all vits and mins in a good range but folate and B12 are high and stand out. Still, not above the top accepted range. At the high level but ok. Have read that some folk think the B12 recommended daily by the FDA is way, way too low anyhow to do its job in a healthy person as only a small amount is actually absorbed. This is my only criticism and I'm really digging to find a complaint. ( I have just bought an extra bottle for my friend who has recovered from breast cancer last year (chemo numb fingers), is on regular Tamoxifen (causing brain fog) and wouldn't take a collection of supplements due to little nutrition knowledge and cost. She was using a low quality budget supermarket brand Multi and wasn't feeling right on them (oxides, cyanocobalamin, etc formulations). I will be ordering these Thorne caps often with other herbs and extracts that work for me, as this is a quality foundation for them.

Highly dosed vitamins

Posted by iHerb Customer on Jan 27, 2018 | Verified Purchase

I really like this supplement because it contains a high dosage of basic nutrients wich we don't have in Europe. Here we only have low dosed basic nutrients supplement which are inadequate to support one's health.

This is a good Source of extra vitamins.

Thanks for your feedback!

This is the best multivitamin on the market right now! 😊

Basically it covers most of the persons daily needs with non-toxic and bioavailable forms of essential vitamins and minerals. Just add magnesium glycinate, fish oil and if you're deficient in it then iron and you're good to go. Also I like how they add vitamin k2 in this product. Thumbs up!

Thanks for your feedback!

Excellent

Have been using these for about 4 months now and wouldn't use anything eles, after becoming vegetarian I realised I needed to trust a supplement that would support my ethical health choice , and I have no regrets with Thorne.
