The Best Thayer's ReplacementI used Thayer's slippery elm lozenges for many years and then - pouf - they stopped making them. These are a good replacement for those of us who are die-hards and singers. My only complaint is the Tangerine taste - not bad, but I would love something either plain or cherry/berry (hint hint). The Lozenges work just as well as Thayer's - very soothing to the throat, and they help to settle my cranky stomach. The price is quite reasonable for the quality and quantity. I removed one star only because I want either plain or cherry taste (did I mention the die-hard thing...)
I have used these for years. Not this particular brand but another. I use them for stomach issues and they work. They are easier than using slippery elm powder which isn’t easily portable. Try them for heartburn or digestive issues. They won’t fail you. My whole family uses them. They taste good as well.
Much better than the version that comes without the flavor. I purchased this after previously purchasing this company but the kind without the flavor. And the olemus doesn't taste good... a bit repulsive... So the tangerine flavor here, totally covers it up! I highly recommend purchasing the one with the flavor, because it's fun to use. [In one without the taste, after a day or two there is not much chance that you will want to continue to persevere...]
slippery elm is good for sore throat and these lozenges really help, they are very mild - it's different than those throat sprays that sting and "sanitize" your throat, it's another approach - coating the painful area and letting it heal. It helped me and my husband many times with sore throat. For me it's a must have in the medicine cabinet along with the powdered form of the plant. I also took it for heartburn - it helped a little but slippery elm tea with the powder helped better for that. The taste is not very good though, but I kind of got used to it and like it. It's medicine so I can deal with it. Not sure kids would deal but it's not really bad, just not sweet and pretty herbal/medicinal tasting.
I intended for these to be a gift but tried them myself out of desperation when i got sick. They do seem to settle my stomach and are effective enough for what they are. I like the feel, the taste is good, and they seem to be a good value. My only complaint is that the flavorings and sweeteners seem to slightly interfere with the stomach soothing effects, but they are still very helpful.
