The quality of Yerba Prima comes from the ingredient of purse psyllium husks. The benefits are numerous, microbiome health, no more constipation etc. My intestinal health has improved dramatically from this product. I love the tase of this product especially when used to thicken soups or gravies. The composition of this product is 100% pure husks with no seeds. The age of product has long expiration date too.
Really like this as my favorite fiber supplement. Psyllium really helps grow those good bacteria in the gut and is such a simple and underrated thing to take. We all need more fiber in our diets, even if you eat fruit/veg daily, you still fall short of the optimum intake of 20-30 grams of fiber daily. Make sure the psyllium is organic, such as this one, as it's sprayed loads.
Husk is much better than powder in my opinion. This brand is one of the best. If you're new to psyllium husk, make sure you use at least 8 oz of water per TBSP of husk - and drink it quickly after mixing. CONS: The container is overkill. I've reused a few dozen now, but have run out of room to use anymore. If Yerba Prima read this, please use less packaging. I would prefer maybe 2-3 lbs in a wax-lined paper bag. That would give this 5.5 stars! :-)
Psyllium whole husks are constanly running out on iHerb without reasons. Luckily, I was able to pick up this one. I am looking a product to increase my fiber intake without adding extra calories.(I usually took chia seed which contain fat) Psyllium does the job excellently. I just wish the stock will be more stable and the price could be bit lower.
I have read that Psyllium captures fat because it’s soluble fibers that encapsulates the fat. It is almost taste less, so it does not harm to have it. I haven’t seen the effect yet, but hard to know. Besides can be used for making your own gluten free bread as replacement of gluten. It acts as a “glue”. This one on top is organic.
